CHARACTERISTICS
NORI (PORPHYRA UMBILICALIS) is a red seaweed belonging to the Rhodophyceae class, it has a beautiful purple colour. It consists of fine lanceolate or elliptical purple/red leaves about 60 cm long.
NUTRITIONAL VALUES
ORGANIC NORI SEAWEED in flakes contains significant amounts of protein, vitamins and minerals. The Vitamin C content of NORI seaweed is higher than in oranges. The Vitamin A content is comparable to that of spinach.ย NORI seaweed contains Vitamin B12 between 32.3 – 77.6 (ฮผg/100 g). Numerous benefits can be attributed to the regular consumption of NORI seaweed, linked to the abundant presence of health-friendly nutrients (including, Selenium, Beta-carotene, Carotenoids, Antioxidants, Phycoerythrin, Porphyran, Alginates, Iron and Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, EPA and DHA.
PROPERTIES
ORGANIC NORI SEAWEED in flakes contains all essential and non-essential amino acids. It has a high amount of Arginine, a basic amino acid generally found in animal Protein. It contains high amounts of Alanine, Glutamic Acid, Glycine and Taurine which are known to be effective for liver activity, especially in preventing the occurrence of cholelithiasis and controlling blood cholesterol levels. NORI seaweed also contains Betaine which helps reduce the cardiovascular risk associated with high plasma levels of Homocysteine, typical of those who follow a diet rich in meat and low in seasonal vegetables.
ORGANIC NORI SEAWEED in flakes also contains relatively high amounts of trace elements, particularly zinc, which is essential for the functions of certain enzymes. It contains Manganese, Copper and Selenium which are essential for the body’s metabolic processes.
ORGANIC NORI SEAWEED in flakes in particular is recommended for optimal supplementation of important micronutrients in daily diets, particularly in the Vegan, Vegetarian and Celiac diets, and in raw diets.
HOW TO USE
ORGANIC NORI SEAWEED FLAKES are small fragments of seaweed leaves that can be used like AROMATIC HERBS and added to any dish, without rehydration and without wasting time, simply by sprinkling a handful taken straight from the packet.
In this way, no combination is precluded: RAW or COOKED, ORGANIC NORI FLAKES can be enjoyed in a thousand ways. With pasta or rice, in soups, in a condiment or side dish, in an omelette, on pizza or… wherever the imagination takes you.
